Gabriela Polit (Quito) is a professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Texas at Austin, where she is coordinator of the Spanish Creative Writing Initiative. She has published two collections of short stories, Historias de la radio (El Conejo, 1997) and Amsterdam Avenue (Literal Publishing, 2017), as well as three academic books and various articles in specialized journals. Her crónicas, stories, and opinion pieces have been published in Revista Anfibia, Universo Centro, Revista Proceso, Revista Ñ, Elipsis, 4Pelagatos and Pagina/12. In 2021, she published a collection of poems, Agujas/Needles, translated by Sean Manning (Literal Publishing, 2021). Her most recent work is Contar historias: Escritura creativa en el aula (Tower Books – UT Press, 2023), a selection of stories from creative writing students.
