Mario Michelena is a Peruvian writer born in Lima in 1971. He studied Literature at PUCP and MA and Ph.D. courses at NYU. He has been working for more than 10 years as an interpreter for the Brooklyn Federal Court in New York. This was the main source of inspiration for his first novel Las esquinas redondeadas (The rounded corners) published by Estruendomudo (Lima, 2015). Aside from his work for the Brooklyn Federal Court, he has translated for HBO's Boxing programming. He is a fan of the New York City Football Club. Michelena is married to an Uruguayan poet and has two children. He lives in Brooklyn.
